The idea behind TheSmartShop is to create an experience that makes you feel like you’re in the mall, but without having to go anywhere.
The service is based on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk program, which is used to get information from its customers and deliver them customized products or services.
It’s a unique idea, says CEO J.J. Bowers.
“You can imagine yourself in the physical mall or shopping center,” he told CNN.
“But the real experience is a different place.
You feel like the shopping experience is real.”
The SmartShop service was first introduced to the public last year.
In a short demo that took place in the company’s San Francisco office, customers were able to browse through a variety of stores, including a department store and department store-branded clothing stores, before being redirected to an Amazon fulfillment center.
It was the first time the company had used Mechanical Turk to deliver products to customers.
Bower said that it was a way to build trust between customers and Amazon.
Amazon didn’t want to just deliver its products, he said.
“We wanted to show them how good the Amazon warehouse is,” he said, “and how easy it is to buy a product on Amazon.”
The concept is simple.
Customers can enter their details and then a machine takes a picture of them, and then shows them how they can buy the item.
It then asks for an Amazon Gift Card, which the customer can then use to purchase the item at its retail location.
Bowser said that Amazon is paying him $25 per hour to use his services, which will run for three months.
The company is already in talks with a number of retailers, including Macy’s, to launch TheSmartStore, which Bowers said will be available to consumers in the US and Canada.
